EDU Week 7

Stephanie Bellofiore  Dr. Brown/ Dr. Okobi EDU 106-82 28 Feb. 2018 After class I met with Dr. Okobi to discuss the Resource guide and what needed to be fixed on my initial submissions. After meeting together, it became much clearer as to what I needed to change. I made the necessary changes to my original draft and just submitted the final version on BlackBoard. I used Perdue Owl in order to properly cite my sources and as an English major, I used the MLA format. I am hoping I receive a good grade on this assignment. As midterms are approaching I am beginning to anticipate my grade. I found it helpful that you listed out what is due before midterms are complete and the percentage of each assignment on BlackBoard. It helps me as a student when professors are clear with their expectations. I am looking forward to a relaxing break at the end of next week!

EDU Week 7

Stephanie Bellofiore  Dr. Brown/ Dr. Okobi EDU 106-82 28 Feb 2018  In class today, we went over different PowerPoint presentations. I am not exactly sure if this is the formal presentation or if we will be presenting formally next week. For week 7, we were supposed to submit our final draft of our presentations so I am not sure if we are supposed to revise them again after today's class. I enjoyed completing my presentation and felt I did a good job. I cited all the information used, I used strong visuals that would evoke emotion in my audience, and hopefully I will get my audience to act on their emotions as a response. My presentation was based off of blood or conflict diamonds. This is a topic I am very passionate about and I hope that came through in my PowerPoint. Some of the other PowerPoint's we viewed were nicely completed. However, some people did not use their voice-over in the slides, did not include a video, or time each slide to advance in 20 seconds. ...

EDU Week 6

Stephanie Bellofiore  Dr. Brown/ Dr. Okobi EDU 106-82 25 Feb. 2018 This week in EDU 106 we submitted our initial PowerPoint drafts. I found this assignment very beneficial and I learned a lot about what makes a presentation successful. I was able to use tools to add pictures, video, and music to my slides. I also learned how to advance my slides automatically to 20 seconds each. Finally, each slide I was able to record my voice in order to describe the information displayed on each slide in great detail. I found the Resource Guide to be a bit confusing. The directions were not very clear and I do not feel that the Resource Guide follows the MLA guidelines. Standard MLA is called a Works Cited. I would like to go over the requirements on the Resource Guide more clearly in class next week.

EDU Week 5

Stephanie Bellofiore Professor Brown Dr. Okobi EDU 106-82 14 Feb 2018 This week in EDU 106, we had a rough draft due that was our script for our PowerPoint presentations next week. In class we were able to meet as groups to make sure our scripts are: clear, organized, logical and get my main points out. The few first slides of my PowerPoint must grab the audiences attention. My project is about conflict diamonds in Africa and North America. My script discusses how many African countries have been fueled by blood, or conflict diamonds. Many African boys are forced to leave their communities and work in the mines. Minors endure tedious work, hard labor, and long hours in order to find diamonds. However, in North America diamonds represent wealth, love, and power. Diamonds are displayed in North American propaganda and are a huge part of American culture. With my PowerPoint presentation, I plan to cover the less beautiful aspects of the diamond industry. I am excited to complete the ...

EDU 106 Week 4

Stephanie Bellofiore Prof. Brown and Dr. Okobi EDU 106-82 6 February 2018 As the class is approaching week 4 on the syllabus, I am beginning to do more research on conflict diamonds. I submitted a draft of my Resource Guide for conflict diamonds. I find it helpful that the guide is categorized based on the information found. For instanced, videos are categorized together, websites, articles, and books all each have their own separate categories. This makes it very easy for the reader to find the sources they are looking for. For class this week, I also viewed the YouTube videos on Access and Databases. The YouTube videos made Access very easy to understand. I learned what a database is, database management system, rational database, records, fields, primary key, and foreign keys are. I took the quiz on Blackboard and received an 80%, so I did fairly well. I am looking forward to class tomorrow and  to starting my storyboard.
